WILDLINGS NEST
est. 2025
The Story
Wildlings Nest is a sophisticated, fully off-grid residential masterpiece situated in the rugged sub-alpine wilderness near Cradle Mountain. Designed to harmonise with its environment, the project balances high-end architectural finishes with the rigorous technical demands of a remote, self-sufficient home. This project was born from a detail-driven collaboration with our clients, resulting in a sanctuary that now serves as a luxury Airbnb, offering guests a unique connection to the Tasmanian wild.

The Site
Nestled in the serene mountain landscape near the iconic Cradle Mountain, Wildlings Nest offers a perfect blend of modern design and natural charm.
Once an historic logging station, Wildlings Nest is located at the end of a 3km gravel road, on a hill overlooking the Lemonthyme Valley and Lake Cethana.
this is a truly remote location and the perfect place to get away for a while.
The site presented logistical and environmental hurdles, from managing snowfall to upgrading the access road for bushfire compliance, every phase of the build was a testament to our team’s resilience in a high-exposure location.

The Exterior
The exterior is defined by a high-contrast blend of Colorbond cladding in "Nightsky" and oiled Blackbutt dressed timber. Every detail was executed with millimetre precision, from the alignment of external fixtures on the centre of the cladding to the seamless transition of the roofline into the surrounding treeline.

Interior
Inside, Wildlings Nest unfolds into a journey of height and light, featuring high-pitched raked ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows that frame expansive wilderness vistas. The interior palette celebrates natural textures, with Tasmanian hardwood door jambs and skirtings complementing the burnished concrete floors. Innovative joinery walls maximise spatial efficiency, acting as both structural dividers and storage for appliances, while the bathroom features a walk in shower and large-format tiling for a boutique feel.

The heart of the home is the functional kitchen, featuring beautiful timber joinery, ample storage, and stylish feature tiles. Whether you're a seasoned chef or simply enjoy cooking for loved ones, this kitchen is sure to inspire culinary creations.
